Bhopal, February 14, 2026: A chilling love story that began on Instagram ended in gruesome tragedy in Bhopal. 33-year-old Sia Ashrafi, who reportedly had three previous marriages, came to Bhopal for her married lover, Sameer, only to meet a horrifying fate. When Sia pressured Sameer for marriage and money, he strangled her to death, police revealed.
Love Turned Deadly
According to the police, Sia’s relationship with Sameer began on a dating app and later continued over Instagram. Blindly in love, she left her home in Maharashtra and moved to Bhopal, unaware that Sameer was already married and a father of two.
Police reports indicate that Sia had begun pressing Sameer for a “fourth marriage,” demanding ₹5 lakh and threatening legal action when he refused. On the night of the murder, an intense argument erupted over the issue. Enraged, Sameer strangled Sia, leading to her untimely death.
Family Involvement in Concealing Crime
After the murder, Sameer enlisted the help of his family—including his mother, brother, and sister—to hide the crime. They placed Sia’s body in an iron box and dumped it into a nearby empty plot’s septic tank. The crime came to light on Thursday when children playing nearby noticed a foul stench emanating from the tank. Police immediately recovered the decomposed body, which was identified by a tattoo on her hand bearing the name “Deepak.”
Arrests and Investigation
Bhopal police have arrested Sameer, his brother, mother, and sister in connection with the crime. The investigation is ongoing, and Sameer’s first wife is also being questioned to determine her potential involvement.
This horrific case has sent shockwaves through Bhopal, highlighting the dark side of obsessive relationships that begin on social media.
