Bhopal, Feb 23, 2026: Two minor girls from Bhopal ran away from home after being scolded by their parents for not focusing on studies. The girls, both residents of the same colony and classmates at the same school, were traced and safely rescued from Lucknow by the police. They have since been reunited with their families.
The incident came to light when the girls did not return home after school on February 20. Concerned about their sudden disappearance, the families filed a complaint at Habibganj Police Station, initially registering it as a potential kidnapping case.
Technical Surveillance Leads to Rescue
Police investigations revealed that the girls had boarded a train to Lucknow. Using CCTV footage, mobile phone tracking, and other technical surveillance methods, authorities were able to trace their location in Uttar Pradesh. A police team then traveled to Lucknow and successfully recovered the girls, returning them to their families.
Reasons Behind the Runaway
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the girls were distressed over parental scolding related to their studies. During questioning, the girls confirmed that frustration and pressure at home led them to leave. Both are 15 years old and had left home under the pretext of going to school.
Authorities noted that this case was resolved swiftly thanks to quick action, coordinated surveillance, and timely response by the police. This rescue comes in the backdrop of a larger concern, as approximately 70 girls from Bhopal have gone missing over the past six years without any trace.
Key Details:
- Both girls live in the same colony in Bhopal.
- They study in the same class at the same school.
- Habibganj Police Station is handling the case.
- Girls were rescued from Lucknow and handed back to their families.
The police have urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with children and pay attention to their emotional well-being, highlighting the importance of addressing such issues before they escalate.
