Bhangel Elevated Road Opened for Trial; Farmers Had Announced It, But Official Inauguration Pending

Noida, Uttar Pradesh – 18 November 2025: The long-awaited Bhangel Elevated Road in Noida, which had remained closed despite completion, was finally opened for trial traffic on Tuesday. The move brought relief to thousands of commuters traveling between Noida and Greater Noida, as traffic congestion on local roads had been a persistent problem.

Farmers Take Initiative
The opening came after the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lok Shakti) held a meeting in Agahpur on Monday and announced they would open the road themselves if authorities did not act. Following discussions with local police officials, the road was opened for trial use, though the official inauguration is expected to coincide with CM Yogi Adityanath’s upcoming visit to Noida.

Road Details and Benefits
The 4.5 km, six-lane elevated road stretches from Agahpur Petrol Pump to the NSEZ Metro Station, connecting areas including Dadri, Surajpur, Sadarpur, Chhalera, Agahpur, Barola, Salarpur, Mongol, and multiple sectors of Noida. Commuters are expected to see a significant reduction in traffic jams along Phase-2 industrial areas and the DSC Road (Dadri–Surajpur–Chhalera route).

Why the Delay in Inauguration?
Although the road was completed around two and a half months ago, the Noida Authority cited the CM’s schedule for virtual inauguration as the reason for the delay. Initially, construction started on 19 June 2020 with an expected completion date of December 2022, but delays pushed the actual completion to September 2024. The project incurred a total cost of ₹608.08 crore, and final finishing touches, including widening of culverts, are still in progress.

Potential Traffic Bottleneck
Authorities noted that the culvert near NSEZ is narrow. Plans are underway to widen it for smoother traffic flow as vehicles enter and exit the elevated road. Meanwhile, the road remains open in trial mode, and farmers have assured that it will continue to remain accessible to commuters until the official inauguration.
