Bhadohi Voter List Controversy: SP MLA Accuses BJP of Removing Dalit and Muslim Names via Form-7

Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh: The political temperature is rising in Bhadohi over the voter list, as Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Zahid Beg has made serious allegations against the BJP government and local administration, claiming that Dalit and Muslim voters are being deliberately removed from the electoral rolls.

Allegations of Manipulation
Zahid Beg stated that under the pretext of the Special Summary Revision (SIR) campaign, names of opposition-supporting voters are being removed using Form-7, a move he described as a politically motivated attempt to influence elections. “Those in power, fearing defeat, are now resorting to manipulating votes,” he said.

Examples from Villages
The MLA cited specific cases in Lalipur, Surhan, Dulmadaspur, and Vedmanpur, where voters’ names had been legally added earlier but are now being removed through misuse of Form-7. He raised concerns about voter safety, saying, “If even respected figures like Shankaracharya cannot be secured, what hope do ordinary Dalits and poor voters have? This is an attack on democracy.”

Warning to Administration
Zahid Beg warned that if the removal of voter names is not immediately reversed, he and his party workers would mobilize public protests. He also urged the Election Commission to intervene without delay, emphasizing that ongoing actions not only violate voter rights but also threaten the integrity of the electoral process.

Administrative Response
Following the MLA’s accusations, district authorities in Bhadohi have initiated investigations, pledging strict scrutiny of all complaints. Officials stated that any irregularities found will result in immediate action.

Concerns Among Citizens and Observers
Local voters and political observers are treating the allegations seriously, viewing the possible misuse of Form-7 as an attempt to control voting rights under the BJP government’s political strategy. The controversy has sparked widespread concern over democracy and electoral fairness in the district.
