Beware of This Girl: Shivani Traps Women in Conversation to Steal Jewelry

Jaipur Crime News: Jaipur police have cracked a gang of women involved in stealing jewelry, particularly mangalsutras, from passengers in autos and e-rickshaws. One of the gang’s key members, the cunning 19-year-old Shivani Shikari, has been arrested.

Jaipur Police Nab Shivani Shikari

Residents traveling by auto or e-rickshaw in Jaipur should remain vigilant, as a gang of women has been targeting female passengers to steal their jewelry. Using clever distractions, these women engage passengers in conversation before fleeing with their valuables. Following a complaint, police at Galta Gate police station swiftly arrested Shivani Shikari, a gang member responsible for stealing a woman’s mangalsutra.

Who is Shivani Shikari?

Police identified the arrested suspect as 19-year-old Shivani Shikari, an active member of the female gang. She, along with her accomplices, targets women traveling in e-rickshaws and autos, engaging them in conversation to carry out thefts. Shivani resides with her family in Govind Vatika, near Delhi Bypass, Jaipur. Authorities are now searching for other female relatives involved in the gang.

How the Theft Occurred

On January 6, Guddi Kanwar, a resident of Jawahar Nagar’s Kacchi Basti, was traveling to the market with her mother-in-law in an e-rickshaw. During the ride, two to three women joined the vehicle and kept Guddi engaged in conversation. Suddenly, the women asked the e-rickshaw to stop and quickly alighted, leaving Guddi unaware that her mangalsutra had been stolen. By the time she realized, the suspects had vanished. Guddi later filed a complaint at Galta Gate police station.

Caught via CCTV Surveillance

According to Galta Gate Station Officer Dharm Singh, the police immediately acted upon receiving the complaint. CCTV footage from the surrounding area was reviewed to track the suspects’ route. Following the trail, police successfully apprehended Shivani Shikari. Authorities recovered a gold-colored mangalsutra from her possession. Shivani’s maternal aunt and other female relatives are also believed to be part of the gang, and police are actively searching for them.
