Bengaluru Murder Mystery Solved: Elder Brother Kills Sibling in Car, Dumps Body in Lake; CCTV Footage Exposes Crime

Bengaluru: In a shocking crime that has stunned Karnataka, an elder brother allegedly murdered his younger sibling inside a moving car and dumped the body in a lake with the help of two accomplices. Bengaluru City Police cracked the case using private CCTV footage that captured key moments of the crime and the disposal of the body.

Brother Called Sibling to Bengaluru on Pretext of Job

According to the police, Shivraj (28), a cab driver from Kalaburagi district, called his younger brother Dhanraj (24) to Bengaluru under the pretext of helping him find a job. Dhanraj, who lived with their parents in their hometown, reached the city on 2 November.

Investigators revealed that Shivraj was deeply frustrated with his brother’s behaviour. Dhanraj was allegedly involved in thefts, violent quarrels, drinking, and repeated fights with neighbours. He had even assaulted his parents and brother on several occasions.

Unable to tolerate the constant disturbances, Shivraj, along with his friends Sandeep and Prashanth, reportedly decided to eliminate him.

Murder Inside the Car

On the day of the incident, the trio picked up Dhanraj from Bannerghatta–NICE Road. While Dhanraj was seated in the front passenger seat, engrossed in his mobile phone, Sandeep and Prashanth grabbed him from behind. At that moment, Shivraj allegedly stabbed him in the neck, killing him inside the vehicle.

The body was later dumped at Bannerghatta–Kaggalipura Road. The accused also threw the knife and the car’s floor mat near Electronic City–NICE Road to destroy evidence.

CCTV Footage Leads to Breakthrough

A decomposed body was discovered on 6 November. Although police initially registered it as an unnatural death, investigators grew suspicious.

A breakthrough came when footage from a private company’s CCTV camera showed a car stopping near the spot and three men disposing of a body. Using the vehicle registration number captured in the footage, the police traced and arrested all three suspects.

Case Registered; Accused in Judicial Custody

Bengaluru Police have registered a murder case and sent the accused to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and verify the motive behind the killing.
