Bengaluru Airport Café Incident: Customer Finds Worm in Breakfast, FIR Filed Against Staff

Bengaluru: A startling incident occurred at a café inside Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, where a 19-year-old passenger reportedly found a worm in his breakfast. The incident prompted him to lodge a formal complaint against the restaurant staff.

According to reports, the passenger and his friends were traveling from Bengaluru to Guwahati on 24 July and stopped at the airport café for breakfast. After ordering pongal and coffee, he noticed a worm in the food and immediately informed the staff. While the café offered to replace the meal, the passenger declined and proceeded to board his flight. Other customers captured the incident in photos and videos.

The following day, the café alleged that the passenger had demanded ₹25 lakh as compensation, claiming he had only learned about the extortion allegations through news reports. The passenger denied making any monetary demands or having any contact with the phone numbers mentioned in the complaint.

The café has rejected the claim of a worm in the food, calling it a malicious attempt to defame the brand and extort money.

Meanwhile, the police confirmed that no evidence of extortion was found. Following the passenger’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against the café staff and management under charges of food contamination, fabrication of evidence, conspiracy, and causing harm.

Authorities are investigating the matter to ensure accountability and maintain food safety standards at the airport.
