Bengal Tea Seller’s 4-Year Coin Savings Fulfill Daughter’s Dream: Gifts Her a Scooter

West Midnapore, West Bengal: In a touching story of patience, perseverance, and parental love, a small-town tea vendor has left many inspired. Bacchu Chaudhary, a 45-year-old resident of Maula village in Chandrakona Block I, ran a modest tea stall and harbored a lifelong dream of buying a motorcycle. Though he could never afford it, he prioritized fulfilling his daughter’s dream.

When his daughter Sushma, now 23, expressed her wish for a scooter to commute to college, Bacchu decided to make it happen. Over four years, he saved meticulously in small piggy banks, collecting coins and notes. On the day of the purchase, Bacchu arrived at a two-wheeler showroom in Gosai Bazaar, Chandrakona, carrying Rs 69,000 in coins and Rs 31,000 in notes—all accumulated from his savings.

An Unexpected Sight for Sales Staff
The sales executives were stunned as Bacchu poured out the coins and notes on the floor to pay for the scooter. Counting the massive sum took eight employees more than two hours, leaving them astonished. “We’ve never seen anything like this in our careers,” one officer said with a smile.

Choosing Daughter’s Dream Over His Own
Bacchu shared that he had always dreamed of owning a motorcycle but life’s circumstances never allowed it. When his daughter requested a scooter, he decided to sacrifice his own dream to fulfill hers. Sushma had also saved Rs 10,000, which was added to her father’s contribution to make the full payment of Rs 1,10,000. Together, they transported the heavy containers filled with coins 15 kilometers to the showroom. There were no loans, no EMIs—the scooter was fully paid on the spot.

A Daughter’s Gratitude
Sushma, overwhelmed with emotion, recalled, “Four years ago, I asked my father for a scooter, and he said we couldn’t afford it. Today, I realized why he had been saving coins all these years. I will never forget this.”
