Barwani, Madhya Pradesh:
In a major step towards citizen-friendly governance, Barwani District Collector Jayati Singh has introduced a pioneering initiative aimed at simplifying essential civil services for newborns and their families. Under the new system, parents will now receive their child’s birth certificate directly from the government hospital, eliminating the need to visit municipal offices or gram panchayats after delivery.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Collector Singh said that the new arrangement ensures that all birth-related formalities are completed within the hospital itself, and the birth certificate is handed over to the family before the mother is discharged. The initiative is designed to save time, reduce inconvenience, and ensure transparency in service delivery.
A ‘One-Stop Window’ for Newborn Services
This innovative model has been developed as a “One Stop Window”, going beyond just the issuance of birth certificates. Under this system:
- Samagra ID generation will be completed at the hospital
- Aadhaar enrolment for the newborn will be initiated
- Assistance will be provided for opening a bank account
- Girl children will be automatically linked to welfare schemes such as Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and Ladli Laxmi Yojana
All documents issued will be securely stored in DigiLocker, ensuring easy access for future needs such as school admissions, anganwadi services, or other government procedures.
Clear Instructions to Hospitals
Collector Singh has issued strict directions that no mother should be discharged from the hospital without receiving the birth certificate of her child. The system has currently been implemented at the District Hospital, and will be expanded in a phased manner to other government health institutions across the district.
Part of ‘Sankalp Se Samadhan’ Campaign
The initiative has been launched under the ‘Sankalp Se Samadhan’ campaign, aimed at strengthening good governance, efficiency, and transparency. The campaign will run in three phases till March 31, focusing on resolving public issues through administrative reforms.
Earlier Recognition: Green Commando Mission
Barwani district has earlier gained recognition for the Green Commando Mission, a unique outreach program delivering healthcare services to remote hilly and tribal areas. Under this mission, healthcare workers such as CHOs, ANMs and ASHAs travel on foot across forests, hills and rivers to ensure vaccination, health check-ups and maternal care for left-out children and pregnant women.
With the launch of the ‘Magic Window’ initiative, the Barwani administration once again demonstrates its commitment to sensitive, inclusive and people-centric governance, setting an example for districts across the state and the country.
