Bareilly Troublemaker Rishabh Thakur Banned from City for 6 Months

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Rishabh Thakur, who had caused a violent disturbance at a nursing student’s birthday party in December, has been officially banned from entering Bareilly for six months. Thakur, who had assaulted Muslim friends of the birthday girl, was escorted to the district boundary by police immediately after his release from jail.

Incident Details:

The incident occurred on December 27 at a café in Bareilly, where a nursing student was celebrating her birthday. Several of her friends, including two Muslim youths, were present when Thakur, along with his associates, arrived and created a commotion, physically assaulting the girl’s friends. The attack was captured on video and went viral on social media, prompting police to register an FIR.

Judicial Proceedings and District Ban:

Thakur had initially evaded arrest after the incident. The police obtained a non-bailable warrant against him, which was served at his residence. He surrendered in court on January 16 and was sent to judicial custody. Upon completing his sentence, the Bareilly police issued a district ban order, escorting him to the district boundary at Badaun and warning him not to enter Bareilly for the next six months.

Background on Thakur:

Rishabh Thakur, who identifies himself as affiliated with a cow-protection group and Bajrang Dal, had already been expelled from the organization following the birthday party incident. He lives in a rented house in Bareilly and is unemployed; his father earns a livelihood through small-scale work.

Police have emphasized that the district ban is a preventive measure to ensure law and order in the city and to deter similar incidents in the future.
