Bareilly: A unique love story from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has captured social media attention. After two years of romance, Ahiya, a Muslim girl, embraced Hinduism, changed her name to Anshika, and tied the knot with her lover Monu. The couple took seven pheras (sacred rounds) in a traditional Hindu ceremony at Agastya Muni Ashram, marking the beginning of their married life.
Breaking Religious Barriers for Love
The couple hails from nearby villages—Ahiya from Churai Dalpatpur and Monu from Pipalsana Chaudhary. Their love story, which spanned over two years, faced strong opposition from Ahiya’s family due to religious differences. Despite the lack of family support, the couple remained determined to be together.
A New Beginning
Unable to convince their families, Ahiya and Monu left their homes and approached Mahant K.K. Shankhdhar at Agastya Muni Ashram. After understanding the couple’s bond, the Mahant agreed to solemnize their marriage. Ahiya adopted the name Anshika, and the couple performed the seven sacred pheras, pledging their lives to each other in accordance with Hindu traditions.
Couple’s Joy and Resolve
Speaking after the ceremony, Anshika shared, “Our ancestors were forcibly converted to Islam, but now I am happy to live my life with Monu. We are committed to spending our lives together with love and happiness.” The story has since gone viral on social media, drawing admiration and curiosity from many.
