Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: A birthday celebration at a Bareilly café turned controversial when a group of Bajrang Dal activists, led by Rishabh Thakur, allegedly created a commotion, accusing the attendees of “love jihad.” The party, attended by a nursing student and her friends, included both Hindu and Muslim participants.
Bajrang Dal Clarifies Position
Bareilly city coordinator Kevalanand Gaur clarified that Rishabh Thakur had already been relieved of all responsibilities within the organization on 14 December. “If he gets involved in any incident or controversy, it is not related to Bajrang Dal,” Gaur said. “We cannot keep someone in the organization who does not follow its code of conduct.”
Allegations of Misconduct at the Party
According to the nursing student, the majority of her friends were Hindu, with only two Muslim attendees. During the celebration, the activists reportedly tried to snatch phones, created a disturbance, and accused the group of “love jihad.”
Police Action
Bareilly police have registered an FIR against the accused and are investigating the matter. Authorities confirmed that the student is an adult and had attended the party of her own volition. Police also recorded statements from her family members.
