Barabanki Sub-Inspector Accused of Affair and Threats, Investigation Underway

Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh: A shocking allegation against Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Yadav of Ramnagar Police Station has sent ripples across the district police department. Arun Kumar, a resident of Kumharwa, Barabanki, has accused the officer of pursuing an illicit relationship with his wife while mediating a domestic dispute and subsequently threatening him with false criminal charges. The matter is now under investigation by SP Arpit Vijayvargiya.

Alleged Affair During Domestic Dispute Mediation
According to the complaint, around a year ago, Arun Kumar approached the police station to report a marital dispute. Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Yadav visited the Kumar residence to investigate. Arun alleges that the officer initially gained his trust by offering assistance, including facilitating his wife’s employment and allowing him to drive the officer’s vehicle. Gradually, the officer allegedly began secret phone communications with Arun’s wife, which eventually turned into an illicit affair.

Alleged Abduction and Threats
Arun further claimed that about five months ago, while his wife was visiting Ramnagar with her sister-in-law, Yadav allegedly forcibly took her in his car despite objections and later dropped her near the tehsil office. A month ago, the officer allegedly visited the family home while Arun’s wife was alone, coaxed her sister-in-law outside, and was found in a compromising situation with her upon return.

When the family attempted to restrict the officer’s visits, he reportedly became hostile, visiting twice on 28 January 2026, verbally abusing Arun’s mother and sisters, and threatening to implicate the entire family in robbery and looting cases. The family is reportedly living in fear.

Evidence and Social Media Controversy
Several audio recordings of conversations between the officer and the wife have gone viral on social media. Akhilesh Yadav has denied the allegations, claiming the interactions were related to the official complaint filed by the wife on 27 January 2026, for which Arun Kumar was summoned.

Police Investigation Underway
The complaint has caused a stir within the Barabanki police department. SP Arpit Vijayvargiya has ordered a thorough investigation. CO Ramnagar, Garima Pant, stated that all parties have been called to the office to provide statements, and further action will be taken based on verification of the facts.
