Barabanki Murder Case: BKU Leader Sunita Kashyap Killed; Shocking Details Emerge

Barabanki, UP: In a shocking revelation, Barabanki police have disclosed startling details in the murder of Sunita Kashyap, district president of the Indian Kisan Union (Bharatiya Kisan Union – Awadh faction). Investigations revealed that Sunita had been living in a live-in relationship with Raj Mishra for several years. The murder allegedly occurred after disputes over marriage demands, police said. Raj Mishra, also known as Raju, has been arrested and sent to jail.

The incident came to light on Tuesday when the body of a woman was found near a canal embankment in Khajurganj area of Nagar Kotwali. The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Sunita Kashyap. Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijaywargiya said multiple police teams, along with surveillance and SWAT units, were deployed to swiftly crack the case.

Long estrangement from husband and children
Police investigations revealed that Sunita, originally from Ashrafpur in Asndra police jurisdiction, had been living away from her husband and children for several years. Based on CCTV footage and other digital and manual intelligence, the police arrested Raj Mishra, a resident of Ganeshpur, Chinhat, Lucknow, on Wednesday.

Dispute over marriage leads to murder
According to police, both Sunita Kashyap and Raj Mishra were married to other partners. Sunita had allegedly been pressuring Raj Mishra to marry her, threatening him with false legal cases if he refused. Angered by the repeated pressure, Raj Mishra allegedly struck Sunita with a brick on February 1, killing her.

Raj Mishra reportedly has nine prior criminal cases registered against him in Barabanki and Lucknow jurisdictions. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
