
Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh: In a disturbing incident threatening communal harmony, workers of Bajrang Dal allegedly vandalized a centuries-old shrine in Fatehpur on Tuesday. A video of the act has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage in the community.
The shrine, dedicated to Wali Shah Baba and located in Mawai village under Husainganj police jurisdiction, is revered by both the local Hindu and Muslim communities. According to reports, a group led by Narendra Hindu, the Bajrang Dal Block Coordinator from Bhitora, arrived at the site in the afternoon and began damaging the shrine with hammers.
The 49-second video circulating online shows the shrine being deliberately damaged. In the footage, the perpetrators are heard warning the community that anyone living in India must adhere to its rules, comparing the situation to Bangladesh and threatening with severe consequences.
Following the viral spread of the video, tensions rose among local communities. Police promptly arrived at the site to maintain peace. Narendra Hindu has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been launched to determine the full extent of the incident. Authorities have appealed to all communities to maintain calm.
Police stated that the matter is being investigated thoroughly, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings. Additional security personnel have been deployed in the area to ensure law and order.
