
Hapur, UP: In a distressing incident from Hapur, a Bachelor of Arts student reportedly attempted to take her own life over a romantic relationship. The student inflicted serious cuts on her neck and arms with a blade and was found bleeding in a mustard field. She was immediately hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in Bankhanda village under Babu Garh police jurisdiction. The student had gone to her coaching center at School Chaupla, but hours later was found approximately 500 meters away in a mustard field, severely injured. Early reports to the police suggested an attack by unknown assailants, an attempt reportedly made by her family to mislead authorities.
However, upon thorough investigation, including checking CCTV footage from the surrounding area, police found that the student had gone to the field alone. The blade used in the attempt was recovered from the scene, confirming that the injuries were self-inflicted.
Mental Stress Cited as Cause
During questioning, the student admitted she was under severe mental stress due to her romantic relationship. She revealed that the brother of her boyfriend opposed their relationship, creating significant pressure on her. The student also left her bag and other belongings at the coaching center, indicating that she had deliberately gone to the field with the intent to harm herself.
Investigation and Next Steps
DSP Varun Mishra stated that the incident was clarified through CCTV evidence and recovered items. The student continues to receive medical care and will also undergo counseling after her condition stabilizes. Authorities are expected to question her boyfriend and his family to understand the circumstances further.
The case highlights growing concerns about mental health among students facing personal pressures and the importance of timely support and intervention.
