Ayodhya Ram Temple Enters Final Phase, Remaining Works to Be Completed by April; President to Visit on March 19

Ayodhya, Jan 31: The construction of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is now in its final phase, with all remaining works expected to be completed by April 30, 2026, according to Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra Trust’s construction committee. In a significant announcement, Mishra stated that President Droupadi Murmu will visit Ayodhya on March 19, coinciding with Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (the Hindu New Year), to witness the darshan of Ram Lalla and honor approximately 400 workers who contributed to the temple’s construction.

The announcement came following a three-day meeting of the temple’s construction committee, where members reviewed ongoing work and deliberated on future plans.

Completion of Remaining Works

According to Mishra, all pending construction work, including the finishing touches on murals and other facilities within the parikrama and outer areas, will be completed by April. The main temple structure itself has been finished for some time, while the final stages focus on ancillary works and site handover. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the primary agencies involved, will hand over the site to the Trust and conclude their work.

So far, approximately ₹1,900 crore has been spent on the temple construction, of which around ₹1,600 crore has already been paid, including GST.

Presidential Visit

Mishra confirmed that President Droupadi Murmu has accepted an invitation to visit the temple on March 19. During her visit, she will participate in the darshan and pooja of Ram Lalla and honor workers who contributed to the temple’s construction. This marks a significant ceremonial moment in the temple’s history, symbolizing both religious devotion and recognition of laborers’ contributions.

Arrival of Rare Manuscripts and Heritage Texts

The temple trust has started receiving ancient manuscripts and religious texts from across India, including rare copies of the Valmiki Ramayana in regional languages. A 400-year-old Sanskrit Valmiki Ramayana from the Central Sanskrit University in Delhi has been handed over to the Trust by Secretary Champat Rai. This sacred text will be placed in the sanctum of the second floor, following verification of its authenticity and age by a committee of Ramayana scholars.

Additionally, the second floor’s sanctum will also feature a Ram Raksha Yantra prepared by Jagadguru Shankaracharya, further enhancing the temple’s spiritual significance.

Progress on Other Key Works

Mishra highlighted that all remaining works are in the final stages. The temporary Ram Lalla shrine will be converted into a museum/memorial by February, and facilities such as storage racks for devotees’ belongings have already been completed. The construction of the Martyrs’ Memorial pillars is expected to finish by March.

Other aesthetic and functional works, including façade lighting, are scheduled to be completed within six months, while signage installation will be finished within a week, Mishra added.

The temple’s construction now stands at the threshold of completion, bringing a historic vision closer to fruition and promising a grand inauguration for devotees and dignitaries alike.
