Jamshedpur: The Chakradharpur railway division has announced the temporary cancellation of 32 local trains, including MEMU and passenger services, from November 25 to 27. Daily commuters traveling between Tata Nagar and surrounding areas will be most affected by this disruption.
Reason Behind Cancellations
The railway authorities explained that on November 26, the Chief Loco Inspector (CSI) examination will be conducted in Chakradharpur, involving a large number of loco pilots. This has significantly reduced their availability for regular local services. To manage the situation, long-distance mail and express trains are being prioritized, while local train services will remain suspended during this period.
Impact on Commuters
The cancellations will also affect passengers traveling on trains serving rural areas, including three MEMU trains connecting to the village of President Draupadi Murmu. Officials cited “technical reasons” and “staff shortages” as the key factors for the disruption.
Affected Trains
According to a notification issued by the railway division on November 23, 2025, major affected services include:
- Rourkela–Tatanagar–Rourkela MEMU
- Tatanagar–Badampahar–Tatanagar MEMU
- Tatanagar–Gua–Tatanagar MEMU
- Tatanagar–Barbil–Tatanagar MEMU
- Jhargram–Purulia–Jhargram MEMU
Passengers are advised to check the train status before traveling and to explore alternative transport options during the three-day period.
