Attempted Attack on Former Minister Madan Chauhan in Hapur Foiled as Gun Malfunctions

Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: Former UP Minister and three-time MLA from Garhmukteshwar, Madan Chauhan, narrowly escaped an attack when assailants tried to shoot him on Monday night in Hiranpura village. The attackers, traveling in a white Toyota Fortuner, were unable to fire as the pistol jammed, saving Chauhan’s life. Police have promised a swift arrest of the suspects.

Attack Near Village Engagement Ceremony

Chauhan, who served as a minister during the Samajwadi Party government and is now active in the BJP, was en route to attend an engagement ceremony in the village when the incident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, three to four men in the Fortuner stopped his vehicle as he approached the village.

Gun Jam Saves Former Minister

One of the attackers reportedly held a pistol in both hands and pressed it against the car window, attempting to fire. However, the gun malfunctioned, preventing any shots. Chauhan’s gunner immediately tried to apprehend the assailants, but they managed to flee in the vehicle.

Past Attacks by Mining Mafia

Chauhan has previously been targeted three times by members of the mining mafia. Following Monday’s incident, he filed a written complaint with the police, highlighting serious concerns for his safety.

Police Investigation Underway

ASP Hapur Vineet Bhatnagar confirmed that police received information about the attack and have inspected the site personally. “We have obtained crucial leads in the case. The suspects will be apprehended soon,” he said.
