Assets Worth Over ₹5.77 Crore Seized from Accused in Illegal Cough Syrup Case

Varanasi/Sonbhadra, Jan 31: Police in Sonbhadra district have seized assets worth more than ₹5.77 crore from Bhola Jaiswal and his family in connection with an illegal narcotic cough syrup case, officials said on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Verma stated that under the case registered at Robertsganj Police Station, authorities confiscated seven immovable properties worth ₹4.55 crore located in the Madauli, Bharalai, and Jagdishpur areas of Varanasi, along with four vehicles valued at ₹51.16 lakh. In addition, bank deposits totaling ₹70,99,228 were also attached.

The combined value of the movable and immovable properties seized has been calculated at ₹5,77,17,990, marking a significant step in curbing the illegal trade of narcotic substances.

Authorities have emphasized that the action is part of a comprehensive crackdown on organized narcotics operations in the region. The seizure sends a strong message against illegal drug manufacturing and distribution networks, highlighting the police’s commitment to enforcing the law and protecting public health.

The investigation into the illegal cough syrup racket is ongoing, and further actions against other involved individuals are expected in the coming weeks.
