Ashoknagar, MP: Bloody Clash Between Brothers Over Land Leaves Two Dead, Several Injured

Ashoknagar, MP: A violent dispute over land in Ashoknagar district turned deadly when two brothers clashed over farming rights on 8 bighas of land, resulting in the death of their father and nephew. Several others sustained injuries and were hospitalized, with one critically injured person referred to Bhopal for further treatment. Police have received complaints from both sides and are conducting a detailed investigation.

Incident Details
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 3:00 PM in Karaiya Banet village under Rajpur police post. The conflict arose over farmland registered in the father’s name. According to witnesses, the elder brother, Khilan Singh Yadav, had already ploughed his portion of the land. However, the younger brother, Krishna Bhan, along with his accomplices, entered the same field with tractors and started ploughing over the elder brother’s crop. When the father intervened, a violent clash erupted involving sticks, axes, and firearms.

Tragically, Khilan Singh Yadav (65) and the nephew Pawan Yadav (son of Kumer Yadav) died on the spot. Several others, including Raj Mahendra Yadav (40), Rajveer Yadav (17), Pawan Yadav (27), and Radhika Yadav (14), sustained injuries.

Family Feud Escalates
Raj Mahendra, elder son of Khilan Singh, stated that the father owned 40 bighas of land, with 8 bighas reserved for his personal cultivation. The dispute began when the younger brother attempted to cultivate on this plot despite prior sowing by the elder brother’s family. Both sides accuse each other of attacking first, resulting in the fatal clash.

Police Action
Local authorities, including Additional SP Gajendra Singh, SDOP Vivek Sharma, and Kachnar Police Station in-charge Poonam Sailer, promptly visited the site to assess the situation. Police confirmed that the incident stems from a long-standing land dispute within the family and are investigating all angles, including the roles of both brothers in the deaths.

This tragic event underscores how property disputes can escalate into fatal confrontations, leaving families devastated and communities shaken.
