Ashok Gehlot Strikes Hard: Declaring Rajasthan ‘Disturbed’ Is Shameful, Targets Government Over Disturbed Area Act

Jaipur: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has launched a scathing attack on the state BJP government over the implementation of the Disturbed Area Act, calling it an affront to Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage. Through social media, Gehlot expressed his outrage, stating that the state, where the ethos of “Padharo Mharo Des” and communal harmony runs deep, is now being labeled as “disturbed.” He described the move as one of the most shameful steps in Rajasthan’s history.

“Model of Peace vs. Laboratory of Communal Politics”
Gehlot recalled that during the Congress rule, the party, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, had established India’s first Department of Peace and Non-Violence. The department aimed to strengthen society through dialogue, harmony, and love, leaving no space for hatred to grow. The former CM alleged that the BJP, upon assuming power, first deactivated this department, allegedly to advance a divisive agenda.

Attack on Rajasthan’s Culture
Gehlot further warned that efforts are underway to turn Rajasthan into a “laboratory of communal experiments.” According to him, enforcing the Disturbed Area Act threatens the state’s traditional culture and identity. His statement has stirred political debate across Rajasthan, raising critical questions: Is this law truly for public safety, or is there a deeper political strategy at play?

The controversy comes at a sensitive time, adding fresh heat to the state’s political landscape as leaders from both sides prepare for upcoming challenges.
