
Patna, Bihar: In a shocking discovery, Bihar Police have seized a large cache of illegal weapons from the residence of a Home Guard personnel in Patna. The operation, codenamed “Operation Cache,” revealed that the father of the Home Guard, Nawal Kishore Sharma, was using the weapons to intimidate villagers and maintain dominance in the area.
According to SSP Kartikey Sharma, police received credible information that Nawal Kishore Sharma, a resident of Barah village under Ranitalab Police Station in the Paliganj sub-division, had accumulated a significant arsenal at his home. Acting on this information, authorities conducted a detailed verification before launching a raid.
Raid Uncovers Extensive Arsenal
Under the supervision of City SP (West) Bhanupratap Singh and led by Ranitalab police, the team raided the home of Home Guard Sonu Kumar in Barah village. The police recovered a rifle, a handgun, two desi katta firearms, 41 live cartridges, 14 shells, two magazines, a pistol cover, a “full-through” rod, a mobile phone, and cash amounting to ₹4,620.
Investigations revealed that all the weapons were illegal. During the raid, Nawal Kishore Sharma was taken into custody. However, his son, Home Guard Sonu Kumar, managed to flee before he could be apprehended.
Background and Investigation
SSP Kartikey Sharma confirmed that Nawal Kishore Sharma already had multiple criminal cases registered against him at Ranitalab Police Station. Further investigation revealed that his son Sonu Kumar, a serving Home Guard, is also implicated in several criminal cases. The police have intensified their search to arrest him.
The sheer scale of the weapons found has left authorities and villagers shocked. The operation not only highlights the misuse of official positions but also raises concerns over illegal arms in local communities.
