Madhubani, Bihar: In a brazen heist, armed intruders targeted the residence of retired Principal Dayakant Jha of Gajhara Sanskrit College in Madhubani, Bihar, making off with property worth approximately ₹1 crore. Police have launched a thorough investigation and claim that the culprits will soon be apprehended.
According to reports, around 24 masked and armed men scaled the backyard wall of the principal’s house in Gajhara village under Ladania police station limits. Upon entry, they immediately disabled the CCTV surveillance system before taking the family hostage at gunpoint. The intruders reportedly ransacked the house for nearly an hour, looting cash, jewelry, and other valuable possessions. In addition, they seized ₹25 lakh from the principal’s pension fund and even went through college documents during the raid. Disturbingly, the assailants were reportedly calling out names of some local villagers during the incident.
Police Swiftly Begin Investigation
Madhubani Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar and Jayanagar DSP Raghav Dayal rushed to the scene with their teams. A dog squad was deployed to assist in tracking the suspects, but initial attempts yielded no immediate results. Police have taken local resident Suryanath Jha into custody for questioning. Some of the robbers have already been identified, and authorities say arrests are imminent.
Cross-Border Links Suspected
SP Yogendra Kumar indicated that a special team under the DSP has been formed to probe the case. CCTV footage from surrounding homes is being reviewed. Due to dense fog, police pursuit was unsuccessful as the suspects reportedly fled towards the Nepal border. Officials suspect the involvement of an active criminal gang based in Nepal.
“The investigation is underway, and we are confident that all perpetrators will be brought to justice soon,” SP Kumar added.
