Dausa, Rajasthan: The political debate over the Aravali mountain range has intensified in Dausa, with Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Kirodilal Meena leveling serious allegations against Congress MP Murarilal Meena. The minister claimed that the MP, who advocates for Aravali conservation, excavated parts of the hills to construct a private residence.
Minister’s Accusations
Minister Meena stated that the central government has prohibited mining and granting leases in the Aravali region. He accused the Congress of extensive damage to the hills during its 60-year governance, claiming that no other period caused as much destruction. Highlighting his party’s commitment to environmental protection, he added that around 200 million trees were planted across the state during the Bhajanlal government’s tenure, expanding forest cover and sanctuary areas. He emphasized that the current government is determined to prevent any further destruction of the Aravali hills.
MP Murarilal Meena Responds
In response, MP Murarilal Meena clarified that his crusher unit in the Kalwan-Sikri area does not fall within the Aravali region. He pointed out that multiple leaders from both BJP and Congress operate crusher units in the area.
On the Alleged Construction
Regarding his private residence at the base of Bhankari Hills, the MP explained that the site was previously subjected to illegal excavation. He claimed that he undertook measures to secure the hill by planting trees and greenery, rather than causing harm, countering Minister Meena’s accusation that he dug into the Aravali to build his home.
Political Tensions Rise
While opposition parties continue to protest for the preservation of the Aravali hills, the ruling party maintains that conservation remains a priority. In Dausa, the issue has evolved into a political confrontation, though citizens hope that the hills are protected beyond the political rhetoric.
