Anta By-Election 2025: Independent Candidate Naresh Meena Makes Headlines Again

Baran, Rajasthan: The Anta Assembly by-election 2025 has once again brought independent candidate Naresh Meena into the spotlight. Known for his controversial yet charismatic political journey, Meena had earlier made headlines during the Deoli-Uniara by-election 2024. This time, he has contested independently from the Anta seat, drawing significant attention from local voters and political observers alike.

Round-Wise Vote Tally for Naresh Meena

  • 1st Round: 316 votes
  • 2nd Round: 6,953 votes
  • 3rd Round: 10,131 votes
  • 4th Round: 14,012 votes
  • 5th Round: 16,684 votes
  • 6th Round: 18,644 votes
  • 7th Round: 18,644 votes

Political Journey and Public Image

Naresh Meena began his political career in 2003, winning the post of Student Union General Secretary at Rajasthan University. During this period, he formed a close association with Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena and actively participated in social movements, earning the nickname “Chhota Kirodi” among supporters.

Meena has maintained close ties with prominent Congress leaders, including Sachin Pilot, but has often turned rebellious when denied a ticket. During the 2017 Meena community rally in Jaipur, he notably applied tilak with Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena’s blood on his thumb, further cementing his bold public persona.

Controversies and Legal Challenges

Naresh Meena’s political path has not been without turbulence. During the Deoli-Uniara by-election, he slapped SDM Amit Chaudhary during voting, leading to his arrest and an eight-month jail term. He has consistently challenged the party line, contesting as an independent and creating hurdles for Congress candidates.

In previous elections, Meena secured over 44,000 votes in Chhabra, significantly impacting the results and nearly tipping the victory away from Congress, with BJP winning by a narrow margin of 5,000 votes. In March 2024, Congress readmitted him into the party, reflecting his influence in local politics.

Leadership in Protests

Naresh Meena has also been at the forefront of major protests. In 2023, following the death of a local leader after a clash, he led demonstrations, which included road blockades and public unrest, eventually resulting in his arrest under multiple IPC sections. His supporters demanded his release vigorously, highlighting his strong grassroots following.

Anta By-Election 2025 Impact

In the 2025 Anta by-election, Meena’s candidacy as an independent remains a crucial factor. With a triangular contest involving Congress and BJP candidates, his presence has the potential to influence the outcome and disrupt traditional voting patterns, making him a key figure to watch as results unfold.
