Gorakhpur: Preparations are underway for a new Lulu Mall in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has announced plans to acquire 50 acres of land in Kalesar and Mahi villages for the project, along with several other commercial initiatives. Over 200 farmers are expected to receive fair compensation and rehabilitation.

Land Acquisition Details
Out of the 50 acres, 46 acres are to be acquired in Kalesar village and 4 acres in Mahi village. The district administration will conduct a detailed survey as part of the acquisition process. An advertisement has already been issued to initiate a social impact assessment of the affected areas.

Strategic Location for Industrial and Commercial Development
Kalesar and Mahi are located near the city, making them suitable for industrial and commercial projects. According to a GIDA official, the authority’s land bank has been significantly strengthened and is being expanded further through acquisitions in various nearby villages. Social impact assessments will also be conducted in two villages of Sahjanwa.

Transparent Process and Farmer Engagement
Officials have assured that the land acquisition process will be fully transparent. Farmers will be consulted, and surveys will evaluate their social and economic status, dependence on the land, and household income. Acquisition terms will be finalized only after completing this comprehensive assessment.
