Aniruddhacharya Advocates Inclusion of Rani Laxmibai and Shivaji Maharaj in Curriculum; Devkinandan Thakur Demands Sanatan Board

Haridwar: The Shila Poojan ceremony of the Vishwa Sanatan Mahapeeth in Haridwar saw the gathering of revered saints, religious scholars, and spiritual leaders from across India. The event resonated with cultural and spiritual messages, highlighting the need for preserving Sanatan traditions, promoting ethical education, and implementing social reforms.

Aniruddhacharya’s Call for Sanatan Education
During the ceremony, prominent storyteller Swami Aniruddhacharya urged that the curriculum of the Mahapeeth should include the heroic tales of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He emphasized that the institution should focus on promoting Sanatan knowledge, Vedic studies, and moral values nationwide.

Devkinandan Thakur’s Demand for a Sanatan Board
Renowned speaker Devkinandan Thakur called for the creation of a Sanatan Board in India, drawing parallels with the Waqf Board established post-independence. He stressed that such a board would safeguard Sanatan culture, traditions, and religious institutions, and make decisions on matters pertaining to Sanatan Dharma.

Thakur further asserted that symbols like Tilak and Kalawa are integral to Sanatan identity and schools cannot prohibit children from wearing them. He appealed to parents to assert their fundamental rights if any educational institution tries to prevent such practices.

Instilling Pride in Sanatan Children
Thakur urged parents to not just teach the Sanatan faith but raise children as proud Sanatanis, noting that while Christians make up only 3% of the population, their children often possess 90% knowledge of the Bible. He criticized English-medium schools for neglecting cultural education and said that had children learned the teachings of Ram, Krishna, and the Gita, grand temples in places like Mathura would have already been established.

Ban on Alcohol and Meat in Pilgrimage Sites
The saints collectively demanded strict enforcement against alcohol and meat sales at pilgrimage sites like Haridwar. Devkinandan Thakur emphasized that a true Hindu’s first duty is to ensure such vices are removed from sacred places.

Grand Plans for the Mahapeeth
The Mahapeeth will be built on 100 acres at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore, aiming to serve as a global spiritual, cultural, and educational hub. Proposed projects include a Sanatan Parliament Hall, Inspiration Centers for Shankaracharya Peeths, Ved Mandir & Study Centers, Residential Gurukuls, 108 Saint Residences, 1,008 Devotee Residences, Pilgrimage Circuit, Sanatan Time Museum, Auditorium, Self-employment & Martial Training Centers, Indigenous Cow Conservation Center, and Dharma Sabha Halls.

Baba Hathayogi, the Mahapeeth’s head trustee, and Tirthacharya Ramvishal Das Maharaj emphasized that the center will focus on preserving Sanatan culture, spiritual upliftment, and nation-building. A dedicated fundraising team will seek contributions from devotees nationwide to ensure timely completion of the project.
