AMU Teacher Murder: Police Announce ₹50,000 Reward Each for Three Shooter Brothers; 7-Year-Old Grudge Behind Killing

Suraj Maurya, Aligarh: In the high-profile Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) teacher murder case, the police have announced a reward of ₹50,000 each for information leading to the capture of the three fugitive shooter brothers. The Aligarh police have intensified their search, extending operations as far as Delhi.

The victim, Rao Danish Ali, an AMU faculty member, was shot dead on the evening of 24 December near the library canteen while taking a walk after dinner. The shooters were identified as Yasir, Fahad, and Zubair, notorious history-sheeter brothers originally from Okhla, Delhi. A co-conspirator named Salman has already been arrested and sent to jail.

Seven-Year-Old Grudge
Investigations revealed that the motive stemmed from a seven-year-old enmity. In 2018, Zubair had suspected Rao Danish Ali of being an informant in the murder of a man named Shahbaz. Zubair had spent seven years in jail in connection with the Shahbaz case and was released in July 2025. Driven by suspicion and vengeance, he conspired with his brothers Yasir and Fahad to execute the murder of Rao Danish Ali.

Police Action and Rewards
According to Aligarh SSP Neeraj Jadoon, the ₹50,000 reward was announced following a previous reward of ₹25,000 at the police station level. Police teams are actively combing all potential hideouts, both in Aligarh and Delhi, to apprehend the three brothers.

The authorities continue to stress public cooperation in providing credible information to aid in the capture of the fugitives involved in this planned, cold-blooded murder.
