Amruta Fadnavis Visits BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Jersey; Sparks Social Media Trolls Over Outfit

New Jersey: Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, visited the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Robbinsville, New Jersey, recently. Known for sharing her photographs and posts on social media, the singer and actress shared images from her temple visit, describing the experience as “divine and beyond imagination.”

Posting about her first visit, she wrote: “My first visit to the Akshardham temple in New Jersey left me speechless. I enjoyed moments of compassion, creativity, and conscious living, which represent shared principles beyond borders. It was a spiritual experience beyond anything I had imagined. I feel blessed.”

Trolls Target Her Outfit
However, shortly after posting the photographs, Amruta Fadnavis faced criticism online for her choice of attire. She had visited the temple wearing a white jacket and black jeans. Some users questioned her wearing high heels inside the temple premises, while others commented on the appropriateness of Western-style clothing in a religious setting.

One social media user, Sudhanshu Gore, wrote, “When visiting a religious place, one should follow cultural norms, which seem to be missing here.” Another asked, “Couldn’t you wear traditional Indian attire instead of your everyday gym clothes?” Several others noted that even Western visitors to the temple do not wear such outfits, and suggested a sari would have been more respectful.

Some users responded humorously, Amit Mahajan wrote with a laughing emoji, “Looks like a fashion show.” Others remarked on the clash between vacation-style attire and temple decorum. Some comments referenced cosmetic surgery, while others emphasized that traditional Indian dress is more dignified and appropriate for a temple visit.

Despite the trolling, many appreciated her temple visit and spiritual reflections. The incident highlights ongoing debates on cultural expectations, social media etiquette, and personal freedom in public spaces.
