Amroha, Uttar Pradesh – 18 November 2025: A wedding in Amroha district turned chaotic on Monday night when the groom’s former girlfriend unexpectedly arrived mid-ceremony, creating a high-voltage scene that led to the marriage being called off. The incident occurred in a village under the Saidnagli police station area, where the bride’s family had already welcomed the guests from Babu Garh, Hapur.
Ex-Girlfriend Accuses Groom
The woman, a resident of Ghaziabad, leveled serious allegations against the groom. She claimed that she had been married in 2015, but after her marriage, the groom, a relative of hers, began pursuing her. She alleged that he initially befriended her, then promised marriage, and entered into a physical relationship with her. According to her, after six years of false promises, the groom abandoned her and proceeded to marry another woman.
Bride’s Family Cancels the Wedding

Amidst shouting and confusion, the bride’s side insisted the marriage could not continue. Police arrived at the scene and took the groom into custody to prevent further escalation. The news of the disrupted wedding quickly spread through the village, creating a stir among locals.
Settlement Reached with Refund
After prolonged discussions at the police station, both parties reached a settlement. The bride’s family demanded a refund of approximately Rs 6 lakh spent on the wedding and the return of all dowry items. The groom agreed to the terms, and the woman decided not to pursue further legal action.
Groom Released After Settlement
According to Thana In-Charge Vikas Sahrawat, the matter was resolved amicably, and no formal legal action was taken against anyone. Following the settlement, the groom was released from custody.
