
Jaipur, Rajasthan: Amit Sudarshan, an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), 2015 batch, has assumed the position of Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Western Railway. He took charge on Friday, succeeding Captain Shashi Kiran, who has been transferred to the role of Chief Project Manager – Rolling Stock, Jaipur.
A native of Pilani in Jhunjhunu district, Amit Sudarshan’s appointment as North Western Railway’s CPRO is a proud moment for the Shekhawati region. He is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and IIM Kolkata, from where he completed his PGDBA.
A Career Marked by Operational Excellence
Before taking on the role of CPRO, Sudarshan served as Deputy Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services & Passenger Marketing) at the North Western Railway headquarters. During his tenure as Deputy Chief Transportation Manager in Tundla, he played a key role in the operation of special trains during the Kumbh Mela. He has also contributed significantly to train operations on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) while serving in Agra and Tundla.
Sudarshan’s career spans diverse roles in commercial and operational management, including Assistant Commercial Manager – Jhansi, Divisional Operations Manager – Agra, Divisional Transportation Manager, and Deputy Chief Transportation Manager – Tundla. His extensive experience in railway operations and commerce is expected to strengthen public outreach and communications at North Western Railway.
