Alwar Tree-Cutting Dispute Turns Deadly: Elderly Man Killed, Family Members Injured

ALWAR: A long-standing dispute over tree-cutting in Alwar district, Rajasthan, turned violent on Friday, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man and injuries to several family members. The incident has left the local community shaken, and the police are investigating the matter.

Dispute Escalates into Violence
The violent clash occurred in the Bagad Tiraha police station area, where a disagreement among relatives over the cutting of neem tree branches escalated into a deadly confrontation. The deceased, identified as 65-year-old Bali, was attacked with an axe during the altercation. His son and three women from the family also sustained injuries. The accused and their relatives fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Disagreement Began a Day Earlier
According to a police complaint filed by Akram Hussain, the conflict began the previous day when his father’s cousin, Fakru, and his sons cut branches from their neem tree. Tensions simmered overnight, eventually erupting into violence the following day.

Accused Return to Cut Tree Again
On Friday, Fakru, along with his sons and other family members, returned to cut the same tree. When Bali objected, the dispute escalated. Fakru allegedly struck Bali with an axe, causing fatal injuries. Akram Hussain, who tried to intervene, was also attacked and seriously injured. Three women who attempted to mediate were hurt in the scuffle as well.

Immediate Medical Attention and Police Action
Bali was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to excessive bleeding. Following the attack, the accused and their relatives went into hiding. Police have launched a formal investigation based on the family’s complaint and are tracking the perpetrators.

Police Statement
Vinod Sanwaria, Officer-in-Charge of Bagad Tiraha Police Station, confirmed: “On Friday, a dispute over tree-cutting between two sides of the same family in Bas village escalated into a bloody confrontation, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old and injuries to others. The accused have fled, and the investigation is ongoing.”
