Alwar, Rajasthan:
In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves across the region, a young man from Haryana was shot dead in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, with the prime accused allegedly issuing open threats even after committing the murder.
According to police, the incident occurred late Monday night in Bhagwadi village, where Lokesh Yadav, a resident of Mandi in Haryana, was attending a family function at a relative’s house. During the event, local resident Sonu Sharma arrived at the venue along with his brother-in-law Gaurav Sharma and allegedly began hurling abuses, leading to a heated altercation.
Eyewitnesses told police that Lokesh and a local man, Sunil, tried to intervene and pacify the situation. However, the dispute escalated rapidly. In a shocking turn of events, Sonu Sharma allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Lokesh in the chest at close range.
Lokesh was rushed to the Behror District Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
What has further intensified public outrage is the conduct of the accused after the murder. Villagers claimed that Sonu Sharma and his associates fired shots in the air while fleeing the scene, creating panic in the area. More disturbingly, the accused allegedly threatened those present, declaring, “The punishment for one murder is the same as for five. I will kill more people before I leave.”
On receiving information, police teams along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the spot and recovered three empty cartridges. A case has been registered against the accused under sections related to murder, attempt to murder, and the Arms Act. Police have launched an intensive search operation to apprehend the accused, who are currently absconding.
The incident has raised serious concerns over law and order in the region, with locals demanding immediate arrests and strict action to prevent further violence. Authorities have assured that all efforts are being made to nab the culprits at the earliest and restore a sense of security among residents.
