Alwar Becomes India’s First District with Fully Insured Villages Under ‘Sabko Bima Abhiyan-2047’

Alwar: Rajasthan’s Alwar district has set a national precedent by becoming the first district in India where all eligible residents of 10 villages have received 100% insurance coverage under the government’s ‘Sabko Bima Abhiyan-2047’ initiative.

On Tuesday, nine villages in the district were formally declared fully insured, joining Desula, which had already achieved full coverage last year. The initiative is part of the national vision of “Safe India – Insured India,” jointly implemented by the Government of India and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

1,367 previously uninsured residents now covered

A total of 4,861 residents across the nine newly covered villages were assessed, and 1,367 individuals above 10 years of age who previously had no insurance were identified and enrolled. Insurance coverage was extended to entire families based on 881 Aadhaar-linked family units, ensuring that each village achieved complete coverage.

The nine newly insured villages are:

  1. Bhulla Ka Bass
  2. Bichpuri
  3. Palankheda
  4. Antapada
  5. Hanumanta
  6. Kalyanpura
  7. Morodkhurd
  8. Kodalka
  9. Lalpur

Along with Desula, these villages now constitute 10 fully insured villages, making Alwar a pioneer in the country.

Donor support ensures zero financial burden

All premiums for these insurance policies were paid by donors. Mrs. Saheli Majumdar of the Prandharin Trust took the initiative to deposit the premiums with United India Insurance Company Limited, ensuring that adult residents could access insurance protection without any financial burden.

According to Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Das, Joint Director of the State Insurance and GPF Department, this achievement demonstrates the practical realization of the government’s vision for a safe and insured India at the grassroots level.

Alwar’s initiative is expected to serve as a model for other districts nationwide, highlighting how community-driven support can ensure full participation in government welfare schemes.
