
Alwar, Rajasthan: The two-day Army Fair at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Alwar kicked off on Tuesday, attracting large crowds with impressive demonstrations of India’s military technology. The highlight of the fair was the display of the Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher and Bofors artillery guns, along with drones used in Operation Sindoor.
Fair Inauguration
The fair was inaugurated by Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Major General Dhirendra Pratap Singh, In-Charge of Itarana Army Cantonment, with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting. State Minister of Forests Sanjay Sharma and District Collector Artika Shukla, along with army officers and personnel, were also present.
Pinaka Missile Steals the Spotlight
The Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launcher, with an operational range of 45 km, is being upgraded to extend its striking capability to 75 km. Developed entirely with indigenous technology, the system has attracted interest from countries including France. During Operation Sindoor, the Pinaka system was successfully deployed, demonstrating its strategic effectiveness. Minister Bhupendra Yadav noted that the army plans to enhance its range soon, with an eye on domestic and international export opportunities.
Bofors Artillery Demonstration
The Bofors gun system, capable of precision targeting up to 30 km, was also displayed. In a live demonstration, drones were deployed to locate targets, which were then accurately neutralized by the Bofors system, showcasing its efficiency against enemy bunkers, tanks, and drones.
Hands-On Experience for Youth
The fair featured an extensive exhibition of modern military equipment, including tanks, rifles, radar systems, rocket launchers, anti-tank guided missiles, light and medium machine guns, reconnaissance vehicles, and communication devices. Army personnel guided visitors, especially youth, on operating these systems to inspire interest in joining the armed forces.
Daredevil Bike Stunts and Dog Demonstrations
The Delhi Daredevils team impressed visitors with daring motorcycle stunts, including flag displays and navigating through fiery obstacles. Additionally, army-trained dogs demonstrated their agility and detection skills by identifying explosives and performing simulated attacks on adversaries. These exhibitions were widely appreciated by the public, especially children.
Modern Weapons Exhibition
Environment and Forest Minister Bhupendra Yadav, along with State Minister Sanjay Sharma, toured the fair and observed advanced weaponry, including rocket launchers, decoys, heavy and light vehicles, surveillance equipment, and communication systems. The public had the opportunity to learn about these technologies, while army personnel showcased tactical skills such as unarmed combat and motorcycle maneuvers.
The Alwar Army Fair provided an immersive experience for civilians, blending education, entertainment, and patriotic engagement while highlighting India’s indigenous defense capabilities.
