In a shocking incident amid dense fog, a speeding car rammed into three policemen on traffic duty at the Soot Mill crossing in Aligarh district on Tuesday night, leaving all three seriously injured. Moments later, the out-of-control vehicle crashed into a stationary Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus parked by the roadside.
The incident occurred around 9 pm in the Banna Devi police station area, where Head Constable Brijesh and Home Guards Devendra and Prem Babu were deployed for traffic regulation. Due to poor visibility caused by heavy fog, the car driver allegedly failed to notice the policemen on duty and hit them at high speed.
The impact was so severe that the car lost control and slammed into a Roadways bus standing nearby, triggering panic and chaos at the busy intersection. Passersby rushed to the spot after hearing screams and immediately shifted the injured policemen to a nearby private hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Following the accident, the occupants of the car fled the scene, abandoning the damaged vehicle. The police have seized the car and launched a manhunt to trace the absconding accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those responsible for the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadon visited the hospital late at night to inquire about the condition of the injured personnel. He directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care and assured strict action against the culprits.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by police personnel while performing road duties, especially during winter months when dense fog significantly reduces visibility.
