Aligarh: Son Beats Father to Death with Iron Rod Over Property Dispute; Accused Arrested After Surrender

Aligarh: In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district, a man allegedly killed his 72-year-old father with an iron rod following a dispute over property division. The accused later walked into the police station and surrendered.

According to police, the incident took place in the Iglas police station area, where Yatendra alias Yogendra had been embroiled in a long-standing dispute with his father Banwarilal regarding the division of their ancestral house. On the morning of 4 December, family members had convened a panchayat in the fields in an attempt to resolve the matter.

However, the discussion quickly escalated into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Yatendra allegedly attacked his father with an iron rod, striking him on the head. Banwarilal died on the spot due to the severe injuries.

After committing the crime, the accused son went straight to the police station and surrendered. Police teams reached the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. The iron rod used in the attack has also been seized.

SP Rural Amrit Jain confirmed the incident, stating that officers collected all relevant evidence from the crime scene and registered a murder case under appropriate sections at Iglas Police Station. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had two sons, and the property dispute had persisted for a long time. Even after an initial settlement, both sides remained dissatisfied, leading to rising tensions within the family.

The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. An in-depth investigation is underway.
