Alcohol Abuse Turns Domestic Dispute Fatal, Wife Kills Husband in Satna

Satna: A tragic case of domestic violence fueled by alcohol abuse surfaced in Satna district, where a woman allegedly killed her husband after enduring repeated verbal abuse and harassment. The incident occurred in Adarsh Nagar under the Kolgawan police station area.

According to police officials, 40-year-old Rashmi Kushwaha struck her husband, Pintu Upadhyay, on the head with a heavy stone slab, resulting in his instant death. Pintu was Rashmi’s second husband and was reportedly addicted to alcohol, often abusing her verbally while intoxicated.

Son’s Discovery Reveals Shocking Crime

The incident took place on the night of January 7. Pintu Upadhyay was found lying covered with a bedsheet in the courtyard of his house. When his 17-year-old son, Akash Kushwaha, returned home around 10 pm and removed the sheet, he was horrified to find his father lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries.

Family members rushed the injured man to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Confession Exposes the Truth

Initially, the death appeared suspicious. However, the post-mortem report revealed fatal head injuries, confirming it as a case of homicide. During interrogation, Rashmi Kushwaha broke down and confessed to the crime.

Police stated that between 9 and 9:30 pm on the night of the incident, Pintu returned home drunk and began hurling obscene abuses at Rashmi. Unable to tolerate the daily humiliation and harassment any longer, she lost control and attacked him with a stone slab lying nearby. The blow proved fatal.

Accused Sent to Jail

City Superintendent of Police Devendra Pratap Singh confirmed that a murder case has been registered against Rashmi Kushwaha under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police have recovered the blood-stained stone slab and a brick from the crime scene.

The accused was produced before the court and has been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
