
Kota, Rajasthan: A recent eye health survey under the Rajasthan School Health Screening Program has revealed concerning statistics about students in government schools. Out of 7.5 million enrolled students, over 47,000 were found to have weak vision during eye tests conducted across the state. The Education Department is currently updating and analyzing this data to plan corrective measures.
Kota Students Receive Glasses
In Kota, eye tests were conducted in various government schools. Out of 1,020 students tested, 300 students were found to require glasses. 50 students have already received glasses, and efforts are underway to provide the remaining students with corrective lenses. CBE0 Snehalata Sharma stated that through collaboration with the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, NGOs, and local social organizations, arrangements are being made to ensure free spectacles are available for students in need.
Digital Health Screening Program
According to the Education Department, the School Health Screening Program was launched digitally to monitor the overall health and hygiene of school students. The program assessed the health of nearly 7.5 million students using 70 different survey parameters. Based on the collected digital data, more than 47,000 students were identified as having weak vision.
Local Impact: Gumanpura, Dadabadi, and Surrounding Areas
In Gumanpura and Dadabadi, 70 students each from government schools were found to need glasses. In Kunhadi, out of 300 students tested, 50 required glasses; in Bhimganj Mandi, 60 out of 320; and in Shivpura, 50 out of 170 students needed corrective lenses. Acting DEO of Secondary Education, Ramcharan Meena, stated that providing free glasses to these students would significantly ease their learning process and improve classroom participation.
