Al Falah University Chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui Arrested Over Multi-Crore Fraud Allegations

Faridabad: Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, Chairman of Al Falah University, in connection with alleged fraud and forgery involving crores of rupees. Following his arrest, Siddiqui was produced before a court, which granted the police four days of custody for further investigation.

Serious Allegations of Financial and Administrative Irregularities
According to Delhi Police officials, Siddiqui faces serious charges relating to financial and administrative irregularities at the university. Investigators expect to uncover crucial information during questioning. This action comes at a time when Al Falah University is already under the scrutiny of multiple central agencies.

University Previously in Headlines
Al Falah University has previously attracted attention for alleged links of some of its medical staff to terrorist networks. In a past investigation, two university doctors—Muzammil Ahmed Ganai and Shaheen Saeed—were arrested by the NIA and Jammu & Kashmir Police. Additionally, the university has been connected to other controversial cases, including the involvement of Dr. Umar, convicted in the Red Fort blast case, and some of his associates who were associated with the institution.

Questions Raised Over Accreditation and Legitimacy
The university’s academic credibility has also been under scrutiny. In November, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) issued a “show-cause” notice to the university over alleged false accreditation claims, leading to the temporary takedown of its website. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also launched an investigation into the institution’s funding and financial transactions involving its medical staff.

The Delhi Police action is based on two FIRs alleging that the university misled students and parents by claiming false recognition from NAAC and UGC. The University Grants Commission (UGC) clarified that Al Falah University never applied for recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, yet the institution allegedly used these claims for financial gain.

Investigating agencies are currently working to connect all the threads of the case, with more revelations expected in the coming days.
