Ajmer College Principal Retracts Controversial Remarks, Clarifies Statement on Pakistan and Nehru

Ajmer: Manoj Beharwal, Principal of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan Government College in Ajmer, has clarified his recent remarks in which he referred to Pakistan as India’s “elder brother.” Amidst public controversy, Beharwal described the comment as satirical and symbolic, not reflecting any assertion of superiority. He also lauded India as a timeless nation and acknowledged the unparalleled contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru.

In a video statement, Beharwal explained that his remarks were made during the Rajasthan Sociological Association conference on January 23–24, in the context of referencing historical texts. “I mentioned that Pakistan came into existence 12 hours before India, in a figurative and satirical context, which has been misinterpreted,” he said. The “elder brother” remark, he emphasized, was metaphorical and not meant to imply national hierarchy.

Beharwal added that the global understanding of India’s stature compared to Pakistan is well-established, making further commentary unnecessary. He also clarified his position regarding Jawaharlal Nehru, describing the former Prime Minister’s contributions as unprecedented.
