Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Mother Aasha Pawar Watches TV During Tragedy, Staff Quickly Shield Her from News

Pune/Baramati: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s tragic death in a chartered plane crash has left the state in mourning, with Baramati observing a three-day period of official grief. At the time of the crash, Ajit Pawar’s 86-year-old mother, Aasha Tai Pawar, was watching television at the family’s Baramati farmhouse.

When breaking news of the accident appeared on TV, Aasha Tai asked the farmhouse manager, Sampat Dhaygude, if her son had been involved in the crash. The staff acted immediately to protect her from the devastating news, disconnecting the TV cable and putting her phone on flight mode to prevent any adverse impact.

Determined to See Her Son
Despite staff reassurances that nothing was wrong, Aasha Tai insisted on going to see her son. Dhaygude recounted that she began walking toward the farmhouse gate, stating that she wanted to see Ajit Pawar herself. Shortly after, the news confirmed that Ajit Pawar had been taken to Baramati hospital. The staff had tried to delay telling her the truth, but her determination could not be stopped.

A Life of Early Loss and Resilience
Ajit Pawar had previously faced the early death of his father, Anant Rao Pawar, in 1988. Raised by his mother Aasha Tai, he later entered politics under the mentorship of his uncle, Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar had married Sunetra Pawar in 1985. His father had been a notable figure in the creative arts and worked with filmmaker V. Shantaram at Rajkamal Studio, leaving a lasting influence on Ajit Pawar’s upbringing and resilience.

The plane crash has not only caused a political vacuum in Maharashtra but has also deeply affected the Pawar family, particularly Aasha Tai, who had nurtured and guided Ajit Pawar through life’s challenges.
