
Agra, Uttar Pradesh: Agra police have registered a case against 10 individuals for allegedly disturbing communal harmony by sharing a misleading video on social media. The video falsely portrayed a shop as belonging to a person named Arif, while in reality, it is owned by Vijay Shukla and operates under the name Baba Chole-Bhature.
The incident came to light after the video circulated widely on platforms including X and WhatsApp, prompting the Chhata police station to investigate. According to Sub-Inspector Yogendra Singh, the viral clip was found to be several months old and factually incorrect.
Background of the Case
The shop owner, Vijay Shukla, residing in Rani Wale Ghera, Belanganj, explained that Arif has been working at his shop for the past 15 years. A few months ago, a dispute over payment with Sachin Singh from Kalindi Vihar was recorded on video. This old footage was later manipulated and circulated on social media, misrepresenting the shop and attempting to create communal tension.
FIR Against Social Media Users
The police have registered charges under provisions related to disturbing communal harmony against the following individuals:
- Ankur Agrawal (journalist)
- Shivam Dixit
- Sachin Gupta
- Goldy Shrivastava
- Sachin Singh
- And several other social media users, including journalists.
The police have emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway and warned that strict action will continue against those spreading rumors or inflammatory content online.
