Agra Man Allegedly Exploits Woman Under Marriage Pretense, Marries Elsewhere

Agra, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking case from Agra, a man allegedly exploited a woman for five months under the pretext of marriage before marrying someone else. The victim, reportedly devastated, attempted suicide by consuming poison and is currently hospitalized in critical condition.

Details of the Case
The accused, identified as Salman, who is related to the victim’s family, allegedly maintained a romantic relationship with the woman by promising marriage. During this period, he reportedly coerced her into sexual relations, taking her to hotels on multiple occasions. When he decided to marry another woman, the victim was abandoned.

The woman’s brother revealed that when the family intervened to formalize the marriage, Salman’s family demanded a dowry of ₹10 lakh. Unable to meet this demand, the family alleges that Salman went ahead with his marriage elsewhere.

Legal Action
A case was registered at Sadar police station on 25 October under charges of sexual exploitation and intimidation. Despite repeated complaints by the victim, the family claims that police took little action beyond providing assurances.

On 10 November, Salman reportedly got married at a local marriage hall. The news reportedly drove the victim to ingest poison in a suicide attempt. She was initially admitted to a local hospital and later referred to SN Medical College in Agra, where her condition remains serious.

The Sadar police station in-charge confirmed that a case has been registered against Salman for misleading the victim with marriage promises, forced sexual relations, and intimidation. The investigation is currently underway.
