Agra Dentist Dies by Suicide After Harassment Calls From 1090; Friendship With Gorakhpur Woman Turned Fatal

Agra:
A 32-year-old dentist, Piyush Singh, died by suicide in Agra after allegedly being harassed and threatened by the family of a woman he had befriended on social media. Piyush, a resident of F-Block, Kamla Nagar, left behind a suicide note holding the woman and her family responsible for pushing him into depression.

According to the family, Piyush had completed his BDS from Maharana Pratap Dental College, Kanpur, and was working at a private clinic after completing his internship. However, six months ago, he returned home and began showing signs of severe stress but did not reveal the reason.

Friendship That Turned Into Fear

Piyush’s younger brother, Ayush, revealed that three years ago Piyush became friends with a young woman from Gorakhpur through social media. The two often met in Lucknow. Problems began when the woman’s family discovered their friendship. They allegedly began threatening Piyush and even filed a false complaint on the women’s helpline number 1090.

The woman is scheduled to be married on 25 November, but her family allegedly continued to threaten Piyush, claiming they would send him to jail. These threats reportedly pushed him into deep depression, following which he quit his job and stayed home.

Frequent Calls From Women’s Helpline

Ayush added that in the past fifteen days, Piyush had been receiving repeated calls from 1090. Fearing he would be trapped in a false case, the family approached Kamla Nagar police station on 17 November with a written complaint. However, no action was taken.

The Final Night

On Saturday night, Piyush had dinner with his father and went to his room. Around 11:30 pm, Ayush entered the room and found Piyush lying unconscious on the floor. A syringe and an injection vial were found nearby.

He was rushed to the hospital and later referred to SN Medical College, where he was declared dead.

Suicide Note Found With Names

Police recovered a diary from his room containing a suicide note in which Piyush blamed the woman and her three family members for his death. Their mobile numbers were also listed in the note.

The body has been sent for postmortem. As the initial autopsy failed to determine the cause of death, viscera has been preserved for further examination.
