Patna: Speculation had been rife in Bihar about the possible return of former JD(U) national president RCP Singh to the party. However, another senior minister close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has now rejected the idea, following earlier comments by Union Minister Lalan Singh.
RCP Singh had recently hinted that he had never truly left JD(U), sparking discussions about his political comeback. But Bihar Minister Shravan Kumar dismissed the possibility, saying, “The party does not need leaders of this kind.” He pointed out that until recently, RCP Singh had described Nitish Kumar as ineffective and had challenged the political relevance of JD(U).
Shravan Kumar further remarked, “RCP Singh had gone to another party, and its leaders were even saying they would quit politics if JD(U) secured 25 seats. He was busy undermining Nitish Kumar, so why this sudden desire to seek shelter here? Leaders who were yesterday working against Nitish Kumar have no place in the party today.”
RCP Singh had left JD(U) to join Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party but reportedly became disillusioned after the party failed to win a single seat in last year’s assembly elections.
Earlier, Union Minister Lalan Singh had categorically ruled out RCP Singh’s return, stating that there was no space in JD(U) for leaders who had once reduced the party’s seat count from 72 to 42. He emphasized that the dedicated JD(U) workers and the people of Bihar had restored Nitish Kumar’s tally from 42 to 85, leaving no role for those who had previously undermined the party.
