
Patna: Indrajeet Prasad Gupta, popularly known as IP Gupta, the MLA from Saharsa, Bihar, has emerged as one of the most talked-about figures in state politics. He defeated BJP heavyweight and former minister Alok Ranjan in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Recently, he came under the media spotlight for a video featuring his sister-in-law, Pinky, which he shared in a lighthearted context.
IP Gupta is now focusing on uniting the Tanti-Tatwa community across India. For this, he has taken charge of the All India Pan Federation, dissolving its existing committees to restructure and expand the organization nationwide. After making headlines by campaigning via helicopter in Bihar, he now plans to tour the country using charter planes to hold community meetings and rallies.
Future Plans: National Outreach via Charter Plane
According to IP Gupta, the Tanti-Tatwa community, along with related sub-castes such as Koli, Kori, and Angar, has a population of approximately 18–20 crore across India. Due to time constraints, he plans to visit key states like Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, the Northeast, Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. These tours will include large gatherings and conferences to bring together all sub-castes under one platform. He also revealed that his party will contest the 2026 local body elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Political Journey of IP Gupta
A civil engineer by profession and a successful entrepreneur, IP Gupta is the founder and national president of the Indian Inclusive Party (IIP). He is also the national president of the All India Pan Federation, representing the interests of Bihar’s Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), particularly the Pan and Tanti communities. His election symbol, the ‘Karnī’ (a mason’s tool), signifies the hardworking spirit of his community.
IP Gupta’s political journey has seen several phases. He initially associated with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and later the Indian National Congress. In 2020, he contested independently from Sikandra. On April 13, 2025, he officially launched his own party, initially called the Indian Inquilab Party, later renamed the Indian Inclusive Party, which became part of the Grand Alliance during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He won the Saharsa seat by a margin of nearly 2,038 votes.
Wealth and Background
According to his 2025 election affidavit, IP Gupta is among the wealthiest MLAs in Bihar, with assets totaling approximately ₹35.28 crore, including cash, bank deposits, company shares, and real estate across Bihar and Mumbai. He hails from Patoona village in Jamui district but maintains strong business ties with Mumbai.
Controversy and Public Attention
IP Gupta, an M.Tech in Civil Engineering from M.D.U. Rohtak, Haryana, is often addressed as ‘Engineer’ due to his academic background. Recently, he attracted attention on social media for spending time in Mumbai with his family, including a video with his sister-in-law, which sparked discussions. He clarified the video was lighthearted and that his sister-in-law has no political ambitions.
With ambitious plans for nationwide outreach and community consolidation, IP Gupta continues to be a rising force in Bihar politics, blending entrepreneurship, engineering expertise, and social influence.
