After Doctor’s Death, ₹60 Crore Property Seized; Will & Donation Deeds May Be Cancelled, Fraudsters Face Major Setback

Jabalpur, February 17, 2026: Following the death of a wealthy doctor and owner of property worth approximately ₹60 crore, the administration has seized her estate amid allegations of fraudulent transfer.

The late Dr. Hemlata Shrivastava had, in a video recorded before her death, accused a Jain family of conspiring to illegally acquire her land by creating a registered donation deed without her consent. After her demise, the authorities acted swiftly to secure the property.

Dr. Shrivastava had faced personal tragedies in recent years: her son, Dr. Rachit Shrivastava, passed away in 2022, followed by the death of her husband on December 6, 2024. She owned 25,000 square feet of land in the upscale Right Town area, valued at over ₹60 crore.

According to reports, her son’s friend, Dr. Sumit Jain, along with his wife Prachi Jain, registered 11,000 square feet of the land in their names on February 12, 2026, through a donation deed. Subsequently, the elderly doctor transferred 14,000 square feet to a religious organization via another registered donation deed.

Shortly before her death, Dr. Shrivastava was admitted to a hospital for treatment. During this time, she lodged complaints regarding her alleged abduction and recorded a video accusing Dr. Sumit Jain and his wife of deceitfully transferring her property to their names, asserting that she never voluntarily donated the land.

Responding to the viral video, Collector Raghavendra Singh confirmed that the administration visited the hospital, recorded the doctor’s statement, and took the property into custody. A hearing under the Senior Citizens Maintenance Act will be conducted in the SDM court, and the registered donation deeds may be annulled. Legal procedures were reportedly not followed during the donation deed registrations, and municipal approval for land transfer was also lacking.

Dr. Shrivastava passed away during treatment last Sunday. Her funeral was conducted under police protection by her sister and members of the Gayatri Parivar at Gwarighat. The administration has sealed her property pending further legal proceedings.
