Action Taken Against Neerja Modi School in Amiyra Case After Two Months

In a significant development in the Amiyra case, the prestigious Neerja Modi School in Jaipur faced strict action after the tragic death of a fourth-grade student. Two months after the incident, the CBSE revoked the school’s affiliation, marking a major step in the ongoing investigation.

Incident Overview
On 1 November 2025, 9-year-old Amiyra reportedly jumped from the fourth floor of her school building, leading to her immediate death. According to reports, Amiyra had repeatedly complained to her class teacher about issues she was facing, but her concerns were allegedly ignored. Following the tragedy, evidence at the site was reportedly cleared before police could properly investigate.

Family Speaks Out
Amiyra’s parents, Shivani and Vijay Meena, spoke to the media a week after the incident, alleging negligence on the part of the school management. Shivani revealed that Amiyra had been harassed by fellow students, and the class teacher had ignored her repeated complaints. The parents demanded strict action against those responsible.

Candle March for Justice
When no action was taken for 22 days, Amiyra’s parents, along with hundreds of Jaipur residents, organized a candlelight march at Shaheed Smarak, demanding justice for the young girl.

Education Minister’s Assurances
Three days after the incident, Education Minister Madan Dilawar visited Amiyra’s family, assuring them that the responsible individuals would be held accountable. He confirmed that a special committee from the Education Department was investigating the matter. However, the committee initially faced obstruction from the school administration, which delayed the investigation. Only after high-level intervention did the committee gain access and begin its inquiry.

Public Outcry
Frustration over the delayed action led to widespread protests, including posters calling out the absence of the Education Minister across Jaipur and social media campaigns under #JusticeForAmiyra.

CBSE Action
Finally, on 30 December 2025, the CBSE revoked Neerja Modi School’s affiliation, marking the first concrete action in this case. The public and the victim’s family now await further steps by the state government against the school management.
